Guillotines are such pains in the neck
The heart of the Detroit Institute of Arts collection would raise between $452 million and $866 million if sold, according to an appraisal by Christis.
And people still talk shit about “art not making money” and how “it is such a waste of funding.” I guess the arts don’t look too bad now that it can “save” a city and its debt, right Mr. Politician?
It is awful that a city may be forced to sell their collection. I have never personally been to DIA but I’ve looked at their collection online and it is absolutely amazing. They have a lot of historically important and impressive pieces. What a shame that it will most likely all be auctioned off.
Save the arts.
